I have an iPhone. I also have an iPad2. And apparently, I don’t have Flash.
I say “apparently” … because I haven’t really missed it. Sure, there’s been a couple of times that I’ve run into the “you need to install flash to view this” message – usually on a poorly-designed website that I tried to get to from a link in an article I was reading.
But have I missed Flash? No, not really. Most of my browsing activity comes from reading RSS feeds, which I get just fine. Most of my video viewing comes via Youtube, which I also get just fine.
If I need to test something from my library’s website, our library catalog, or our databases, I get those just fine too. No Flash required.
How about you? Do you find yourself missing Flash? Is it a problem? If so, how come? Please share!
I’ve used iOS for about three years now and haven’t missed flash for a second. Â If anything, I’ve been a little relieved, as a number of advertisers wrap their ads in a flash package. Â For the most part, developers have been trending away from Flash because of the multitude of requirements and restrictions is places on the reliability of their content and interactivity. Â Besides, you can do so much with CSS, Javascript, and HTML5 now that there’s little incentive to stick with Flash anway.
The library’s Bookflix children’s video database is flash. I would LOVE to be able to get that content on iPhone and iPad and I am sure other parents would too! Just not practical for us to put the toddler at a PC!
Personally, I have one site that I might use more which displays online craft tutorials in flash. I would love to display them on my ipad while in the craft room working on projects. Other than that, I don’t miss it at all. Certainly I don’t miss it at work.
Where I most miss Flash on my old iPad1 and my current iPad2, is when using Prezi. The Prezi app is read-only, because it would require Flash to actually create or edit a Prezi. Â And Flash-based objects embedded into Prezis (i.e., videos) don’t display when I use the iPad Prezi app.

We miss it for Meebo Me. Meebo Me uses flash, otherwise it would be a great free solution to a mobile chat option that doesn’t require the user to download anything or to have a specific account somewhere.
Bakerl: I Â use the Meebo app on my iPad. Â Doesn’t that work for what you need? Or are you referring to other iPad users being able to access your embedded Meebo widget on your website?
Now that you mention it, I don’t use flash all that often personally or at work.
I agree with you 95% of the time. Â But I’m also a big fan of the Charlie Rose Show, whih so I feel the absence of flash periodically…But like everything else, Charlie Rose won’t be using old school incompatible flash forever…
Nope, I’ve had my ipad for over a year and I don’t miss flash at all. I mostly use Instapaper, Evernote, and ebook readers on it and all my social websites (Facebook, Twitter, Ravelry) work just fine.

I don’t have an iPad (yet) but I have an iTouch that I read my rss feeds and update an account here and there..you made me think…I haven’t missed flash either.  Most people I know are not getting an iPad yet until it can handle flash but I think I’ll not worry about that.  If I need flash for any reason  I’ll use my handy dandy netbook 😉
I’ve been shown install flash like ten times. Oh well I can’t view the website, it just sucks how much I pay for this phone a month and I can’t view everything.
Many games need flash. Not having it limits the fun I could have on this 1000 dollar non-computer
