I recorded a new song and video for y’all! This song is all about social networking and how people are using the emerging social web to connect with each other, to communicate… and in my case, to sing songs to my blog readers.
When writing the song, I was thinking about facebook, twitter, MySpace, and all the social connections that are happening 24/7 – I find it extremely fascinating.
Social Digital Global Shift
by David Lee King
I haven’t seen her since high school
never thought I’d see her again
but yesterday I got a facebook request
she asked to be my friend
so I took a little time to catch up
browsed through her photobucket and blog
I watched some funny videos of her kids
and then I wrote this song
’cause it’s a social digital revolution
social digital relationship
social digital communication
it’s a social digital global shift
I have friends around the world
they’re growing globally
some of them live in Saskatchewan
while others live in D.C.
Enjoy!
nice one again!

It saddens me that so many people in this new bubble can make a living off of simply talking about how things should be done and never actually DOing anything besides making “viral” videos.
What’s worse is even horrible videos/songs/”funny stuff” can bring traffic either to enjoy or mock. Traffic that leads to egos being boosted and reputations being built. This is the part of the bubble that will undoubtedly burst. Eventually there will be enough actually good content to force the junk to land in less noticeable places.
Even as I type I am giving this video far more credit than it deserves.
Ian:
If I could make a living recording silly demo songs and creating half-baked videos, I’d be a happy man.
Thanks for watching and sharing (which was the whole point of my song, anyway).

I loved it David! 🙂
Ian just wishes he could be so creative (as do I, frankly). Bitter much, Ian?

Hey David L.K., you have star potential, or at least could be writing for the stars. Or maybe ‘reaching for the stars’ when the sherrif asks you to ‘get outta your car’. Actually you made me smile and I enjoy your ‘SOCIAL’ energy! Geoff D. Australia.
